 The National Institue for the Protection and Conservation of Monuments and Sites of the Czech Republic, regional department in České Budějovice 
 

The České Budějovice Regional Departmen of the National Institue for the Protection and Conservation of Monuments and Sites of the Czech Republic is a professional body whose responsibility it is to protect, study, document, and present the cultural heritage fund of the region of South Bohemia. There are thirteen significant monument complexes in South Bohemia which fall under the authority of the Institute: the castles of Český Krumlov, Hluboká, Kratochvíle, Rožmberk, Červená Lhota, Jindřichův Hradec, Dačice, Nové Hrady, Zvíkov, Landštejn, and Třeboň, as well as the Schwarzenberg family tomb Domanín and the Zlatá Koruna monastery.

The main task of the Institute's employees is to draw the public's attention to cultural, artistic, and technical qualities which benefit not only us, but future generations as well. It would be a pity to pass by such qualities without noticing them.

Exhibition The Rožmberks: A Czech Dynasty and Its Journey through History

On 6 November 1611, Peter Wok – the last male descendent of the famous dynasty of The Rožmberks – died at the castle of Třeboň and in 2011 we will commemorate the 400th anniversary of this event which significantly influenced the course of Czech history. The exhibition The Rožmberks: A Czech Dynasty and Its Journey through History presents important moments in the history of this dynasty and for the first time ever a representative collection of approximately 550 works of art and historical documents commemorating the Rosenberg cultural heritage will be gathered in one place. This exceptional project is remarkable by the year-round operation and the historical character of the museum exhibition. The new museum will present artifacts from Castle depositories recalling some of the notable events linked to the former owners of the Krumlov dominion, the Rosenbergs, Eggenbergs and the Schwarzenbergs. The Castle Museum first opens to public on 11 January 2011.
