A Day with Arcimboldo
State Castle Kratochvíle
20. June 2008
To celebrate the end of the school year, on June 20, 2008, the employees of the National Institute of Historical Monument Care, regional office České Budějovice, in cooperation with the state castle of Kratochvíle and the children's art studio of Milena Švecová put together the program A Day with Arcimbold at Kratochvíle Castle – a workshop inspired by the works of the remarkable Italian Renaissance painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo.
The captivating atmosphere of the Renaissance castle and gardens provided 45 children from the Máj II. Elementary School in České Budějovice with a chance to experiment and develop their handiness and fantasy in three art studios to create collages, allogorical masks and head covers from paper, textile, and natural materials.
The students' works can be seen during the month of September as part of the Days of European Cultural Heritage in the exhibition hall of the České Budějovice Town Hall.
